Dear kids, today's lesson is about the Alien Registration Card and how to obtain it without looking like a total idiot. We have a beautiful example of how not to present yourself - me. At the start we will also look at how to get a job (also without looking like an idiot, of course). So, today I had my first job interview. Whaaat, like a few days in Korea and already an interview?? Yeah, I know, someone's got a pretty low standards. Anyways, here are a few points of good preparation:
Sadly, I haven't find much info about this on the internet before. I knew you have to register within 90 days of your stay and that you'll probably gonna need the card to get a Korean bank account and a Korean phone number (this actually is not exactly correct either...). I was googling around and all the info I found was more or less: you need to register at your respective place (given by your address), you need to fill out some papers and print out some forms, you need to pay a fee (I found two different prices, we'll see which one is correct) and you need to apply online for a meeting. But NOWHERE I found WHERE actually to get the forms, WHICH addresses falls under which place and the online system wasn't working for me... If you're looking for this info, don't be sad. I experienced being an idiot instead of you and here's the result.
What are you gonna need:
And that's it. You fill all the forms, show up at your appointment date and time and then you just have to wait for the actual card. I've read somewhere it should take a few days to print it out but I'll be able to confirm it in August.
In one day I was able to set up my ARC appointment and actually get a job (for like 90 % maybe) as the nice (but a bit weird) guy told me to get the card ("or you cannot work in Korea, lol") and come back once I have it. So in the end of being a total idiot who knows nothing, I got away with something. It does not mean I'm not gonna look for other jobs, you never know, but it seems like I have about three weeks for traveling and enjoying Seoul before getting the card and asking for the waitress job again. Hope this article will help at least someone who's hopeless like me. Be go(o)d.

How the hell am I supposed to know it's her just by a random nickname, when I do not know she knows this blog and why the hell she wrote it in French when she knows I do NOT speak it? xDD Pretty much nothing pointed to her :D At least if she added "ta soeur", THAT would make sense :D But good to know that this is read just by my family... :D

So you are a lucky girl if you´ve found a job where Korean language isn't necesery. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :) For me, it would be Korean language a disaster because of the Korean alphabet and then the pronunciation which is not equal to the written signs. Leave a Reply. |
